About the Role
A leading landscape architecture firm is seeking a senior landscape architect to join its team in London.
Our client is known for designing timeless, pure landscapes inspired by their context. They apply a forensic investigation into each project, delving into its history, geology, ecology, landscape, and culture to create unique and meaningful designs.
About the role
As a senior landscape architect, you will play a crucial role in their projects, taking the design lead on projects, with a particular focus on early RIBA stages. You will be involved in commercial, residential, public realm, and educational projects, including work with independent schools and prestigious institutions like Oxford and Cambridge colleges. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with leading design practices and ambitious clients.
Key responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead projects independently and manage small teams to deliver exceptional landscape designs.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Client Collaboration: Engage with clients to understand their needs, present projects to planning authorities and quality review panels, and participate in design reviews.
- Technical Expertise: Apply knowledge in urban greening, trees, biodiversity net gain, SuDS, public engagement, and co-design to address complex planning matters.
- Design Excellence: Demonstrate design flair and a deep understanding of the design process and project delivery through all RIBA stages.
- Communication: Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and graphics to effectively communicate design concepts and project progress.
Qualifications and experience:
- A design-based degree in landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, or related fields.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in landscape practice in the UK.
- Proficiency in relevant design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Vectorworks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to planning officers and at design reviews.
- Ability to lead and inspire project teams and clients.
- Curious, motivated, and passionate about design.
