About the Role
Are you an established EIA practitioner or environmental planner with a minimum of 7 years’ experience looking to take the next big career move? Want to work at the forefront of delivering the next generation of sustainable infrastructure and tackling some of the biggest environmental challenges facing our society?
Due to a growing and diverse pipeline of projects, our client requires a Senior Consultant to join their expanding Environmental Assessment and Consenting team. You will play a pivotal role in the development of their business, supporting the Technical Director EIA and Senior Leadership Team in managing large and complex projects, as well as contributing significantly to business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the delivery of large and complex projects, including client and subcontractor management, project budgets, schedules, and invoicing.
- Identifying and managing project risks with the support of the Project Director.
- Providing technical leadership in environmental or planning specialisms and offering technical advice to clients in renewable energy and other sectors.
- Preparing tenders, obtaining quotes from subcontractors, and developing fee proposals.
- Writing and reviewing technical reports for approval by Project Directors.
- Leading business development through professional networks and developing your own.
- Acting as a client account manager for larger clients, ensuring their needs are met and securing opportunities for repeat business.
- Mentoring and advising junior staff, potentially in a line management capacity, and acting as a ‘go to’ for technical advice.
- Assisting the Technical Director with team management, including finance, budgeting, business planning, and forecasting.
- Deputising for the Technical Director as needed.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an environmental discipline.
- Chartered Environmentalist or Town Planner.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to plan and deliver work within budget and on schedule.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage competing demands effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multifunctional teams.
- Exceptional report writing skills and attention to detail.
- In-depth understanding of UK planning and environmental assessment legislation.
- Experience in client growth and business development is advantageous.
- Experience in line management and mentoring junior staff.
- Full Driving Licence.
