About the Role
Our client is a leading environmental consultancy committed to delivering sustainable solutions for the conservation and enhancement of natural habitats. Their team of experts works on a wide range of projects, particulary in the development sector, from ecological surveys and assessments to the implementation of biodiversity strategies. We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled GIS Ecology Consultant to join their dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse and interpret ecological data.
- Create detailed maps and spatial datasets to support ecological assessments and biodiversity projects.
- Conduct field surveys and collect ecological data using GPS and other survey tools.
- Collaborate with ecologists, planners, and other stakeholders to provide spatial analysis and mapping solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and ecological research to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial analysis techniques.
- Experience with ecological survey methodologies and data collection.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of remote sensing and its application in ecological studies.
- Experience in habitat mapping and biodiversity monitoring.
- Familiarity with environmental legislation and policies.
- Previous consultancy experience in the environmental sector.
