Assistant Ecologist
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is excited to be supporting our client, an established environmental consultancy with a growing reputation for sustainability, collaboration, and purpose-driven work. As part of their continued expansion, we are helping them find two passionate Assistant Ecological Consultants — one to be based at their scenic North Aston office, and the other at their vibrant Corby location.
This is a brilliant opportunity for early-career ecologists who are ready to grow their expertise and make a real-world impact as part of a friendly, knowledgeable, and values-led team.
About the Role
As an Assistant Ecological Consultant, you'll support meaningful environmental projects while developing your technical and consultancy skills. Your responsibilities will include:
-
Assisting with ecological field surveys and preparation (equipment setup, access, data collection, and analysis).
-
Supporting the production of technical reports and client documentation.
-
Contributing to client communication, project research, and desk-based studies.
-
Working closely with your line/project manager to carry out key project tasks.
This is a hands-on role with real variety — ideal for someone with energy, initiative, and a love for the natural world.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll bring:
-
A degree (or vocational equivalent) in ecology, environmental science, or a related subject.
-
Some practical experience in the ecological/environmental sector (e.g., volunteering, internships, or employment).
-
A genuine enthusiasm for nature and sustainability.
-
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for surveys.
Desirable Extras
-
Basic knowledge or interest in plants and field botany.
-
Experience working within a team or collaborative environment.
-
Confidence with written communication and report contributions.
Why Join Our Client?
-
Be part of a mission-led consultancy that blends passion with professionalism.
-
Work on local projects that reduce long-distance travel and support work-life balance.
-
Survey scheduling designed to avoid dusk-to-dawn patterns — most surveys are limited to two evenings per week where possible.
-
Exposure to interdisciplinary teams across ecology, forestry, and landscape design.
-
Friendly, supportive team culture with a strong focus on mentorship and development.
