About the Role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive environmental consultancy, for an Environmental Clerk of Works based in South Wales or South West England.
We are seeking individuals with site-based environmental experience and a strong interest in both the environment and construction. This role will be primarily site-based and offers an excellent opportunity for career development within an established and growing consultancy, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of Environmental Clerks of Works (ECoWs), Landscape Architects, Ecologists, and Environmental Planners.
Role Highlights:

Salary: Competitive, circa £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Contract: Full-time, permanent

About the Role:
As an Environmental Clerk of Works, you will be an integral part of the site team, working alongside project ecologists, environmental coordinators, and specialists to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, protected species licences, and site-specific best practices.
Core Responsibilities Include:

Site-based auditing and environmental monitoring

Identifying and managing environmental risks in collaboration with contractors

Supporting the development of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), method statements, and other technical documentation

Implementing and managing environmental permit-to-work systems
-
Reviewing contractor documentation (RAMS, ITPs, MAFs, etc.)

Participating in environmental liaison and consultation meetings
-
Conducting noise, air, and water quality monitoring
-
Carrying out or coordinating ecological surveys
-
Providing input on construction processes, technical queries, and site inspections
-
Supporting award submissions for schemes such as Constructing Excellence or CEEQUAL
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant site-based experience
-
Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations and site health & safety
-
Familiarity with construction methodologies and environmental risk identification

Full UK Driving Licence
-
CSCS accreditation
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Proficiency in Office 365 (GIS experience advantageous)

Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM or IEMA)
Desirable:

A degree or qualification in Landscape, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field

Protected species licences

Familiarity with Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) identification and management
