About the Role

A environmental design practise, specialising in landscape, ecology and arboriculture is looking for skilled and motivated Arboricultural Consultants to join their Manchester-based team. This exciting role is suited to individuals with at least 3 years of experience in arboricultural consultancy and a drive to deliver impactful results. You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, education, and infrastructure.

The Role

You will play a pivotal role in delivering and managing a wide range of arboricultural projects, leading with technical excellence and a collaborative spirit. Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting arboricultural projects across various sectors.
  • Advising on multi-disciplinary projects, sharing your expertise with the arboriculture team and the wider business.
  • Conducting arboricultural surveys, risk assessments, tree management plans, tree mapping (using CAD and ArcGIS Pro), and community engagement, while preparing high-quality reports for Local Planning Authorities and landowners.
  • Collaborating with planning authorities, architects, and other professionals to provide insight into the planning design process.
  • Providing advice on Tree Preservation Orders, tree work applications, Conservation Areas, and High Hedges.
  • Supporting the management and mentorship of team members, fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and growth.
  • Assisting with workload management, including analyzing survey data, drafting and reviewing reports, and ensuring the successful delivery of team objectives.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring efficient, cost-effective project delivery.

Essential Requirements

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A degree in Arboriculture or a related field.
  • Membership in a professional body, such as the Arboricultural Association.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an arboricultural consultancy role.
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in tree surveying techniques and risk/hazard assessment methodologies.
  • An understanding of Visual Tree Assessment principles and the ability to apply them systematically.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of current planning and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • A positive, adaptable approach to work, whether independently or as part of a team.

Desirable Requirements

  • Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) Certificate.
  • Flexibility to travel and work away from home as needed.
