We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director with a Landscape Planning background to lead, develop, and shape our client’s York-based design team.

About the Role

In this key leadership role, you will:

  • Lead and develop the team: Provide mentorship, foster a multidisciplinary approach, and ensure the highest standards of project delivery.
  • Deliver excellence: Oversee major projects, producing LVIAs, management plans, method statements, and landscape strategies.
  • Support diverse sectors: Contribute to projects in Renewable Energy, Residential, Town Centre and Public Realm, and Assets and Estates, with a primary focus on nationally significant infrastructure projects.
  • Shape the business: Drive a landscape-led approach to growth, ensuring exceptional client service and supporting the professional development of the wider design team.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and confident leader with:

  • A proven track record managing teams of varying skill levels.
  • CMLI qualification and at least 5 years in a leadership role (desirable).
  • Significant consultancy experience in landscape planning, with expertise in planning policy and process.
  • Experience working on NSIP DCO projects (desirable).
  • Strong key account management skills for large-scale projects.
  • Expertise in conducting site surveys and delivering LVIA/TVIA assessments.
  • Outstanding report-writing and quality assurance capabilities.
  • EIA chapter authoring experience.
  • Self-motivation, organisational skills, and strong project management abilities.
