Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior and Principal Ecologist to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering a variety of ecological projects, ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ecological surveys and assessments, including habitat and species surveys.
- Prepare and review ecological reports, impact assessments, and mitigation plans.
- Provide expert ecological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Develop and implement biodiversity enhancement strategies.
- Mentor and support junior ecologists, fostering professional development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines.
- Contribute to business development through client liaison and proposal preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field. A postgraduate degree is desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ecological consultancy or a related sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and planning policy.
- Proven experience in conducting and managing a range of ecological surveys.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using GIS and other ecological software.
- Full membership of CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management) or working towards it.
- A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel.
