About the Role
Our client, a leading consultancy firm specialising in environmental, engineering, health and safety, and sustainability solutions, is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior/Principal Arboricultural Consultant. This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to a range of exciting projects across the Midlands or Scotland.
Role Overview:
As a Senior/Principal Arboricultural Consultant, you will be responsible for leading and managing arboricultural projects, providing expert advice, and supporting the development of junior consultants. Your extensive experience with tree surveys and Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs) will be crucial in delivering high-quality consultancy services. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful integration of arboricultural considerations into wider projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage arboricultural projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct detailed tree surveys, including BS5837:2012 compliant surveys, tree condition assessments, and veteran tree evaluations.
- Prepare and review Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs), Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS), and Tree Protection Plans (TPPs).
- Provide expert arboricultural advice to clients, planners, and project teams, ensuring the successful integration of arboricultural requirements into development plans.
- Mentor and support the development of junior consultants, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality consultancy services.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, legislation, and best practices to ensure compliance and excellence in service delivery.
- Contribute to business development activities, including preparing proposals, attending client meetings, and identifying new opportunities for growth.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in arboricultural consultancy, with a strong track record of conducting tree surveys and AIAs.
- Professional membership with the Arboricultural Association (e.g., Chartered Arboriculturist, Technician, or Fellow) or working towards this status.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines, including BS5837:2012.
- Strong report writing skills with attention to detail and the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in using arboricultural software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, tree management software).
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites across the Midlands or Scotland.
