With established offices in Bristol, Warrington, and Glasgow, our client is seeking a Senior Hydrologist to support their growing portfolio of projects across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your technical expertise in hydraulic modelling, flood risk, and SuDS design to a collaborative, friendly team working at the forefront of environmental planning.
🌍 The Role:
As Senior Hydrologist, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering a range of hydrology projects, contributing to planning applications and environmental strategies from early concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:

Leading and supporting Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and SuDS schemes

Carrying out hydraulic modelling using tools such as Flood Modeller Pro, HEC-RAS, or equivalent

Producing clear and robust technical reports

Collaborating with in-house and external multidisciplinary teams
-
Attending client meetings and conducting site visits
-
Providing input into environmental assessments and planning documents
✅ Essential Criteria:
-
A degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field

Chartered or working towards chartership (ideally with ICE or CIWEM)
-
Proven experience with flood risk assessments, surface water strategies, and modelling tools

Knowledge of relevant UK hydrological legislation and planning policy

Strong report writing, organisational skills, and technical precision

Proficient in GIS and relevant modelling software
-
Full UK driving licence
🌟 Desirable Experience:

Master’s degree in a related discipline

Knowledge of peat stability and associated assessments
-
Strong technical understanding of hydrological systems and processes
-
Experience contributing to tenders and bid writing

Involvement in producing EIA chapters
