We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Ecologist with a focus on botany to join their expert ecology team. In this role, you will take on a variety of exciting projects and lead specialized services across the following areas:
- Preliminary Ecology Appraisals
- Ecological Impact Assessments
- Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
- Habitats Regulations Assessments
- Ecological Design Advice, Mitigation Strategies, and Management Plans
As a Senior Consultant, you’ll lead ecological surveys, build strong client relationships, and play a key role in mentoring junior consultants and graduates. With a responsive and dynamic approach, the work is varied and engaging, with new challenges every day.

Role Requirements
- Academic Background: Degree in ecology, botany, or related biological sciences
- Professional Membership: Membership in CIEEM, actively working toward Chartership
- Specialism: Expertise in botany, ornithology, or bat ecology, with experience in large-scale surveys and developing mitigation strategies
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and planning policies
- Survey Proficiency: Skilled in extended Phase I/UKHabs and specialized species surveys
- Desirable Skills: Experience with Habitat Regulations Assessments and engagement with statutory nature conservation bodies (SNCBs)
- Client Relations: Demonstrated experience engaging with clients, statutory bodies, and local planning authorities (LPAs)
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication to facilitate clear client and team interactions
- Project Management: Proven skills in leading projects, mentoring team members, and ensuring delivery on time and within budget, surpassing client expectations
- Commitment to Excellence: Alignment with the consultancy’s values of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence
- Business Development: Experience in securing projects and driving business growth is desirable
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £38,430 - £45,460 (based on experience and skillset)
This consultancy offers a transparent pay structure, with fixed pay points within each grade for fairness and clarity.
