About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic, commercially-minded, and operational leader for their Northern Ecology team, covering the Manchester and Birmingham offices. This role collaborates closely with the Regional Ecology Director for the South to drive both the Ecology strategy and the wider business strategy, reporting directly to the Operations Director. Success in this role requires excellent communication, team management skills, and an eye for detail within a vibrant and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Regional Ecology Director (South) and Operations Director to execute the annual Ecology and broader business strategies.
  • Support Office Leads in analyzing operational data, including pipeline management and sales actions.
  • Lead HR decision-making, recruitment, and subcontractor engagement in partnership with the HR lead.
  • Coordinate with the central resource team to ensure workload efficiency across the Northern region.
  • Partner with Technical Leads to identify skills gaps, utilize innovations, and meet specific regional needs.
  • Complete monthly operations reporting through detailed data review with Office Leads.
  • Ensure cross-regional collaboration, shared knowledge, and teamwork with the Regional Ecology Director (South).
  • Align sales strategies with regional and technical goals, working with Operational Leads and sales representatives.
  • Contribute to the annual review of the Ecology strategy and budget, identifying growth opportunities and new directions.

Additionally, this role will occasionally provide project support across the Northern and broader Ecology teams, mentoring junior project managers in complex projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proactive leadership skills to mentor regional and project management teams.
  • Strong communicator who embodies the values of Honesty, Caring, Belonging, Opportunity, and Enjoyment.
  • Holds an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences.
  • Detail-oriented in data analysis, solution finding, and written work review.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislative and planning frameworks within the industry.
  • Full CIEEM membership or Chartered Ecologist status (or working toward Chartership).
  • Holds a full UK driving license.

Salary and Benefits: Our client offers a transparent pay structure with fixed pay points within each grade. The anticipated salary for this role falls within the Director pay scale:

  • £60,300 or £64,600, depending on experience and skill alignment.

These figures reflect 2024 pay bands, with adjustments anticipated in January 2025. Full benefits associated with this grade will be discussed further with interview candidates.
