About the Role
Location: Fieldwork across Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, office space in Derry/Londonderry with the opportunity for home working.

Our client, an established firm specializing in environmental consultancy, is looking for an Ornithologist/Ecologist with Avian experience to join their growing team. With expertise in planning, architecture, and environmental assessments, they have a strong focus on renewable energy projects, particularly wind energy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead ornithological surveys, including vantage point, breeding bird, and walkover surveys.
- Conduct avian and ecological impact assessments, especially in relation to wind energy developments.
- Prepare detailed reports, conduct data analysis, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide advice to clients and stakeholders on ecological matters.
- Travel for fieldwork, including occasional overnight stays, with flexibility for home and office-based work when not in the field.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in ecology, ornithology, or related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of ecological consultancy experience.
- Strong bird identification skills and familiarity with Irish/NI wildlife legislation.
- Experience in avian impact assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
- Full clean driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
