About the Role

Our client is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy with multiple offices across the UK, they are seeking a full-time High-end Consultant/Senior Ecologist to join their team. 

The Ecology Team provides a comprehensive range of services, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment, Biodiversity Net Gain Metrics, Habitats Regulation Assessment, and Protected Species Surveys for various species such as Bats, Badgers, Dormice, Reptiles, Great Crested Newts, and Birds. They work closely with appointed contractors to implement effective mitigation strategies. Projects span across diverse sectors including Residential Development, Mineral Extraction, Energy Generation, Leisure, and Healthcare, covering the entirety of the UK.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the environmental consultancy sector.
  • Field experience with a variety of habitats and protected species.
  • Proficient field recording skills and data analysis abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for resolving ecological issues.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise technical reports.
  • Familiarity with current guidance, UK standards, planning policies, and laws.
  • Capacity to manage workload independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards personal and team development.
  • Valid UK Driving licence.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Possession of protected species class/survey licence(s).
  • Experience with QGIS.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, statutory consultees, and site contractors.
  • Aptitude for supporting business development activities.
